This accredited 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification will meet the recommendations of the HSE, which states that even small office are required to have a first aid kit and at least one appointed person to take care of first aid arrangements. Ultimately the employer must assess the workplace risk and train sufficient first aiders.


Candidates must attend the full 6-hours training session in order to fulfil the qualification requirements. In addition to full attendance, every candidate is assessed on each topic of the programme.

EFAW training enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work. A certificate is issued and requires refresher training at a minimum every 3 years

  • The importance of preventing cross infection
  • The need for recording incidents and actions
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
  • Administer CPR
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
