Tap Washer

A barrel tap washer is a small rubber or plastic washer used in a barrel tap to  prevent leaks and create a watertight seal. It is typically placed between the tap and the barrel or container it is attached to.

When a barrel tap is turned on or off, the tap washer compresses against the barrel's opening, creating a tight seal that prevents water or other liquids from escaping. Over time, these tap washers can wear out or become damaged, leading to leaks. Replacing the tap washer is a common maintenance task to ensure the tap functions properly.

To replace a barrel tap washer, you would typically need to turn off the water supply and drain any remaining liquid from the barrel. Then, unscrew the tap from the barrel. Locate the existing tap washer and remove it. Replace it with a new tap washer of the appropriate size and material, ensuring a snug fit. Finally, reattach the tap to the barrel and turn on the water supply to test for leaks.

It's worth noting that the specific steps for replacing a barrel tap washer can vary depending on the design of the tap and barrel. It's always a good idea to consult the manufacturer's instructions or seek professional assistance if unsure about the process.
