For over thirty decades, VWP steriliser has been proven and used by commercial wine bottlers and homebrewers.
Dissolve one teaspoon of the steriliser in one gallon of water or two teaspoons for heavily soiled equipment.
Pour into a vessel to be sterilised, coat all surfaces in the sterilser solution and leave for 10 minutes, longer for heavy soiling. If using an enormous container, smaller items that need sterilising can also be placed in the vessel. Rinse thoroughly with clean cold tap water.
Yes, it is always important to rinse equipment with clean tap water to remove any debris after emptying the soiled solution.
No, VWP omits Metabisulphite, which does not clean or sterilises (i.e. Kill all spoilage organisms). Metabisulphite is used to stabilise finished wine.
