Northdown produced in the 1970's; this hop was used for bittering as it has a high Alpha which was a useful content at that time.
Now, much higher alpha hops have been produced, but Northdown hop leaf is still used due to its excellent flavour qualities.
It is a German male resistant to downy mildew crossed with Northern Brewer. Limited availability.
